Most of the advice I read about writing copy for Twitter is either misguided or flat out wrong. I know that comes across as being brash.
It's more work that way, @Stazzy, but the results are usually much better. Less dry, and more consistent with the advice I write about.
The best advice I can give about writing, @jewelry_diy, is write first and then think. Thinking first makes writing incredibly difficult.
@hensel @youtoocanbeguru @carol_stephen @amy_donohue What if they are trying their best? What advice would you give. Thank you.

I think the best social media advice came from Captain Picard when he said, "Number One: Engage!"
I'll be honest at the risk of alienating myself, most of this kumbaya social media advice is absolutely nonsense. Put on your big boy pants.
Best. Advice. EVAR!
@PeggyDolane Do as I do and not what I say. Wait. That's horrible advice. Don't do what I do. :-)
@dafnordad I think that I'm going to take your advice and start doing that. Watching me tweet is more entertaining than my actual tweets.
Don't be constrained by my advice or anyone else's. Make mistakes and correct them. Take chances. Follow your heart. Write. Hard.
I know, terrible advice. Better play it safe. Don't take chances. Follow all the social media advice you read on blogs. Be homogeneous.
Their retweets, followers, rankings, scores, favorites, likes, and comments seem to reflect that. Most social media advice is crap. Honest.
Mostly seem to echo the same advice... Be boring. Be homogeneous. Don't take any chances. Create a static hum. And you know what?
I was also reflecting on the myriad blog posts I've read recently and thought that many people give well intentioned advice but...
"Be funny now, break the tension." It's actually solid advice. (She had to deal with a similar situation because of the press.)
I just responded to a text message with a friend, "When I write, I write from the heart. I'm just being who I am." Her advice?
